A 72-year-old woman was crushed under the wheels of a Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) bus near Poultry Farm Chowk here this afternoon. Her husband, who was riding the motorcycle, sustained minor injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Santosh Kumari, a resident of Jarnail Enclave, Phase 1, Zirakpur. According to the police, she was returning home with her husband, Jawahar Lal, on a motorcycle when the mishap occurred. The HRTC bus was heading from Nalagarh to Delhi.

A team from the Sector 31 police station reached the spot and shifted the body to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, for a post-mortem examination. A forensic team also visited the accident spot.
The HRTC bus driver, Lekh Raj (42), was arrested on the spot. The bus was carrying 38 passengers when it met with the accident.
A senior police officer said a detailed investigation into the matter was underway.
