Electrical workers have decided to observe a strike on January 8 next year in support of their demands.

The decision was taken in the general conference of the Electrical Workmen Union held at Electrical Store, Sector 25, here today. Mukesh Anand, chief engineer-cum-special secretary, Engineering Department, inaugurated the conference, which was attended by more than 300 delegates. Naseeb Jakhar, president, INTUC, demanded implementation of equal pay for equal work for outsourced employees. Demands, including creation of new posts, regularisation of contractual employees, filling up of vacant posts, were raised in the meeting. — TNS
