Encroachments removed from Manimajra motor market

145 challans issued

The Municipal Corporation today carried out a major anti-encroachment drive in Manimajra motor market, during which 145 challans were issued for various violations.

The drive, conducted under the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, was supervised by MC Commissioner Amit Kumar. The enforcement team was led by Joint Commissioner Sumeet Sihag and Superintendent Sunil Dutt.

The drive started around 6 am and continued till 2 pm. The encroachments were removed with the help of 12 trucks, one JCB machine and two cranes. Police personnel were deployed at the spot to ensure law and order during the drive.

The MC team issued 105 challans for encroaching on public space by placing tools and iron material, 10 for dumping/abandoning vehicles and 30 challans for other encroachments.

The entire operation was peaceful. The Commissioner has stated that repeat violations will lead to stringent legal action as per the provisions of the Municipal Act.
