Entry to be regulated at gate 1 of Panjab University
Chandigarh, February 12
The entry to the university campus would be regulated through gate 2, while gates 1 and 3 will remain closed from 9.30 am to 3 pm on February 14. Students of the university and teaching and non-teaching staff shall carry their ID cards for verification to avoid inconvenience.
Two special lectures were organised to celebrate Dayanand Saraswati’s 200th birth anniversary at the Sanskrit Department of the university. The first lecture was by Dr Vijay Bharadwaj, while the second lecture was by Prof Lakhvir Singh. Teachers, research scholars and students of the department participated participated in the event, along with Panjab University’s Dayanand Chair for Vedic Studies.
The Department of Community Education and Disability Studies of the university organised a workshop on the topic ‘Hands-on Training of Tools for Children with Special Needs’. Dr Chhaya Sambharya Prasad, Clinical Director, ASHA CAIDD, Developmental and Behavioural Paediatrician, Adolescent Health Expert, and Child Rights Expert, interacted with the students of the department at the event.
The Department of Library and Information Science organised special lectures on ‘Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning’ and ‘Data Prediction using Machine Learning Techniques’. A research scholar from the department, Damodar Parabhoi, anchored the event and theme of the lecture.
The Music Department at the university organised a workshop on ‘Techniques and Principles of Improvising Alaap and Taan in Raag’. The workshop was organised by vocalist Dr Ojesh Pratap Singh of the Faculty of Music and Fine Arts at Delhi; sitarist Dr Kulwinder Kaur, Assistant Professor at SD College, Sector 32; and Soumen Bhattacharjee, a sitarist at the All India Radio and Doordarshan.
An eco-artistry workshop was organised at Kasauli village in SAS Nagar. Various women from the village attended the workshop. It provided a platform for rural women to transform waste plastic bottles into artistic, eco-friendly planters. This initiative was undertaken by Dr Jaspreet Kaur Sembi from the Department of Botany and Dr Gaurav Gaur from the Centre for Social Work. The workshop is part of a project sanctioned by the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh, under the Environment Education Programme of MoEF&CC.
