Why beat the drum if achievements real, asks City AAP chief

City Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Vijaypal Singh on Tuesday alleged that the BJP’s attempt to celebrate its 11-year rule as “service, good governance and welfare of the poor” was a grand scam, based purely on false statistics, hollow slogans and media propaganda. “If there had been real development in the country, the BJP wouldn’t need to beat the drum of its achievements,” he said.

Thakur was holding a press conference at the city BJP office on the completion of 11 years of the BJP-led NDA government. He was accompanied by city BJP president Jatinder Pal Malhotra, Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla and state vice-president Kailash Chand Jain.

He said: “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has made historic progress over the past 11 years on the path of service, good governance and welfare of the poor.

“Our borders are secure, and India has emerged as a rising global power. The mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas brought the country into the mainstream of development,” he added.

Thakur said: “In the past 11 years, the NDA government has done unprecedented work for the welfare of the poor and the common people. Unlike the Congress, which merely gave slogans such as ‘Garibi Hatao’, the Modi government helped over 25 crore people rise above the poverty line. Schemes like PM Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan, and Ayushman Bharat transformed lives across the country.”
