Excise Dept teams seize 2,159 bottles of illicit liquor

In order to curb the illegal sale of imported foreign liquor, Indian made foreign liquor and country liquor (IFL, IMFL and CL) at the liquor vends and to prevent evasion of excise levies, enforcement teams of the Excise and Taxation Department conducted a series of random inspections of the liquor vends located in Sectors 9, 20, 26, 27, 40 and Industrial Area, Phase I, during the past few days as part of the ongoing enforcement drive.

During these inspections, a total of 2,159 bottles of various brands of IFL, MFL & CL were found without valid pass/permits and without holograms which were confiscated by the teams. Cases for breach of Excise Law have been initiated against the defaulter licensees.
