Expect more heavy rain in Chandigarh tricity region from today

The weatherman has issued an orange alert for downpour in the region on Saturday and a yellow alert for heavy rain on Friday and from Sunday to Tuesday.
“There will be an increase in rainfall activity over Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana from the night of August 22 to 25,” the IMD predicted.
Issuing the weather forecast and warning, the weather department said light to moderate rain was likely at a few places during the next 24 hours. “Thereafter, the rainfall activity is very likely to increase over Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana from the night of August 22,” it said.
The IMD predicted light to moderate rain at many places on August 22, at most places from August 23 to 25 and at a few places thereafter in Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana.
“Heavy rainfall (7cm or more) is very likely from August 22 to 25 at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana and from August 23 to 25 in Chandigarh,” the weatherman said, while forecasting very heavy rain (12 cm or more) at isolated places on August 23 in Punjab and Haryana.
According to the weather forecast for the region for the next seven days, the region is likely to witness fairly widespread rain at many places on Friday, widespread showers at most places from Saturday to Tuesday and scattered rain at a few places on Wednesday next.
Today, Mohali recorded the highest maximum temperature of 35.4 degree Celsius in Punjab, while Panchkula logged the lowest minimum temperature of 24.5 degree Celsius in Haryana.
Chandigarh logged 35.3 and 24.7 degree Celsius maximum and minimum temperature, which was 1.9 degrees above yesterday’s reading. The night temperature was 0.5 degree less than the previous night reading.
