Fatehgarh Sahib caps rates of ambulances

The district administration has fixed the rates for the provision of ambulance services in Fatehgarh Sahib to curb fleecing of residents.
Deputy Commissioner Amrit Kaur Gill said: “The minimum fare for 10 kms has been capped at Rs300 and more than 10 kms is Rs12 per km for non-AC ambulance. The minimum fare for AC Innova ambulance up to 10 kms is Rs500 and over 10 kms is Rs15.7 per km and ventilator ambulance van up to 10 kms minimum fare is Rs1000 per km and over 10 kms is Rs25 per km.”
She said the cost for PPE kits would be borne by the patient and waiting charges by the ambulance owners could be charged at the rate of Rs100 per hour. She warned that if any person or organisation charged more than the prescribed rates, action would be taken against them as per the law. She said oxygen charges would not be levied separately by ambulance owners. — OC
