Fatehgarh Sahib, July 29

In the biggest single-day surge in the district, 30 more persons tested positive for Covid-19 in the district today.

The cases include 14 from Mandi Gobindgarh town, including seven police personnel and a journalist, two persons from Nandpur Kalour, five from Sirhind town, two NRIs, two from Bassi Pathana and five others from different villages. All of them have been admitted to Gian Sagar Hospital.

Dr NK Aggarwal, Civil Surgeon, said the Health Department had started tracing the contacts of the positive cases and the area from where more than five cases were reported had been declared as micro-containment zone and a house-to-house survey was being conducted.

He said at present, there were 116 active cases in the district.
