The fight against drugs was a shared responsibility and required unwavering commitment from all stakeholders — government departments, law enforcement agencies, educational institutions and citizens alike, Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria said during a meeting with senior officials of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) at Punjab Raj Bhavan today.

The meeting focused on strengthening joint strategies to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse in the region.

During the discussion, the Governor highlighted the urgent need for enhanced coordination between enforcement agencies and consistent efforts to dismantle drug networks. He stressed that tackling the drug menace required a multi-pronged approach, involving strict enforcement, preventive action and community awareness.

Anurag Garg, Director General, NCB, Sambit Mishra, Deputy Director General, and Amanjit Singh, Additional Director, were present in the meeting. The NCB officials shared updates on current operations, surveillance mechanisms and collaborative initiatives being undertaken in Punjab and Chandigarh.
