Fifteen sports associations were given an all-clear, despite the fact that some of them were not listed with the Indian Olympic Association. Nineteen other associations were asked to sort out discrepancies.

Sources privy to the matter claimed that many associations had filed objections and many office-bearers were also put under questioning. If the sources are to be believed, of 34 associations, around 20 will be eligible for voting. However, the confirmation will come on October 31 when the final list will be released.

The process to elect the new Chandigarh Olympic Association house was initiated after the Punjab and Haryana High Court took over the matter and directed the UT Administration to initiate the proceedings.

Hari Kallikkat, who was appointed administrator by the UT Deputy Commissioner, had decided to hold the elections to the new house of the controversial Chandigarh Olympic Association on November 21, after the court of Justice Kuldeep Tiwari noted delay in following the order passed in January.

The polling will be held from 11 am to 3 pm, followed by the announcement of the results by 5 pm same day. The format of nomination papers, as per the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), will be issued on November 8 and 9 (between 11 am and 3 pm). The nominations will be received on November 13 (11 am to 3 pm) and scrutinised by 4 pm same day. The withdrawal will be allowed till 3 pm, November 15, followed by approval of the list of the contesting candidates by 4 pm.
