A bitumen plant of NH Construction Private Limited at Sanauli, near Zirakpur, suffered an extensive damage after a fire broke out today afternoon.

Panic gripped the area as smoke billowed out from the bitumen plant. Three large containers were engulfed in flames even as the construction firm’s management pressed earthmoving machines to dump soil in the affected area.

Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot to put out the blaze.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
