A bitumen plant in Sanauli, near Zirakpur, suffered extensive damage as fire broke out today afternoon. Panic spread in the area as huge clouds of smoke billowed from the NH Construction Private Limited Bitumen plant. Three large-sized containers caught fire even as construction firm management pressed earthmoving machines to dump soil in the affected area. Two firetenders rushed to the spot and began operation.
