Five accused acquitted in ‘rape’ case
A judge, Fast Track Special Court, Chandigarh, has acquitted five accused, including two women, arrested in a POCSO case registered three years ago.
The police had registered an FIR on July 16, 2022, on the complaint of a girl under Sections 376, 342, 506 and 120-¬B of the IPC, Immoral Prevention of Trafficking Act and POCSO Act.
The victim said that on July 15, 2022, her aunt and another accused took her into their car at NAC, Mani Majra. She alleged that she was confined in a room by her aunt, where she was raped by the other accused persons.
Counsel for the accused argued that the victim had not supported the case of the prosecution. After hearing the arguments the court acquitted all five.
