Fives villages falling under the Dera Bassi sub-division, Amlala, Jarot, Humayunpur, Samgauli and Trivedi Camp, will get new Panchayat Ghars at a cost of Rs 1.25 crore.

"The Punjab government is carrying out comprehensive development works in the villages and the Panchayats will not be allowed to face any shortage of funds," Dera Bassi MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa said.

Fulfilling the long-standing demand of these villagers to build a Panchayat House, the Panchayat Raj Department will construct the buildings in each of the five villages at a cost of Rs 25 lakh each.

Besides conducting Panchayat activities and, the buildings will also be used for community events.
