CWC chairperson Gurpreet Kaur stated that the children had previously been rescued and were staying at a Snehayala in Maloya for varying durations. “All these children were found in a destitute state at various locations in the city and were subsequently brought to Snehalaya by the police and Childline. They were unable to provide details about their families,” said Kaur.

She shared that one of the boys, aged 8, had been missing for more than a year. He was reunited with his family in Uttar Pradesh. The families were overjoyed to be reunited with their children.

She said the CWC coordinated with ASI Rajesh of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of Panchkula, who had an impressive track record in reuniting children with their families, and it was through his efforts that the reunion was made possible.
