City MP Manish Tewari today urged officials to formulate a comprehensive rehabilitation policy for families displaced in slum demolition drives from 2007 to 2025.

Chairing a meeting of the State-Level Advisory and Monitoring Committee to review various Central Government schemes in Chandigarh, he directed that the Dadumajra garbage dump be cleared within deadline committed by the Municipal Corporation before NGT, Parliament and the High Court.

Tewari asked the Chandigarh Housing Board to consider an amnesty scheme — one-time settlement scheme — for those unable to clear their dues to financial difficulties.

Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla, DC Nishant Yadav, MC Commissioner Amit Kumar, CHB CEO Ajay Chagti, ex-mayor Kamlesh Kumari and former Bar Association president DPS Randhawa were among those present in the meeting.
