Fortis Hospital, Mohali, has decided to run two separate emergency wings for treating Covid-19 suspects/patients and patients with other ailments.

Isolation ward has a capacity to treat 12 patients at any given point of time. Non-covid wing will cater to patients suffering from heart attack, accidents, mother and child health and gastroenterology.

Dr Amit Kumar Mandal, director, pulmonology, sleep and critical care, said, “The idea is to separate Covid-19 patients from other emergency patients to avoid spread of infection. Extra precautions are being taken to sanitise and contain the spread of infection by equipping all concerned operatives with protective gear.”
