The police said on October 24, a CIA staff team had received information that Danveer and Bunty of Chhata village, Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh (UP), were supplying illegal arms in Punjab and other states.
There was a tip-off that the duo was going to supply illegal arms/ammunition to Krishan Kumar, alias Happy Gujjar, a resident of Nada village, and Sikander Sheikh, a native of Solapur, Maharashtra, currently residing as a tenant in Mullanpur Garib Dass, in a white car on the Kharar-Mullanpur airport road.
Danveer and Bunty were arrested at Gopal Sweets near Airport Chowk. Sikander, who had come to buy arms, was also arrested on the spot and Rs 1.99 lakh recovered from him. Krishan was arrested on October 26.
A case under the Arms Act was registered against them at the Kharar Sadar police station.
SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans said, “Danveer is a member of Papla Gujjar gang, which is active in Haryana, UP and other states. He used to bring arms from UP and MP and supply them in Punjab.”
Danveer already had cases related to murder, robbery and the Arms Act registered against him in Haryana, UP and Rajasthan. Sikander, an international wrestler, was recruited in the Army on the sports quota, but later left the job. Krishan had a case registered against him at the Nayagaon police station.
“The accused are currently in police remand. Raids are being conducted in UP and Haryana to nab their accomplices,” said the SSP.
