Four boxers from city among junior Asian meet probables

Four local boxers have been selected by the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) for the preparatory coaching camp to select the team for the Junior Asian Championship to be held at Amman (Jordan) from April 17 to May 1. The trials to select the probable squad was held at the SAI NCOE, Rohtak.

In the boys’ junior category, Amandev has been selected for the 48-50kg weight group, while Loven Gulia has been selected for the 80kg event. In the girls’ junior category, Prachi will be vying for the final spot in the 75-80kg category, while Gurseerat Kaur has been shortlisted in the 80kg category. All of them train at the Sector 42 Boxing Coaching Centre under Dr Bhagwant Singh.

Chandigarh Amateur Boxing Association president Satish Chandra, chairman Dr CK Jerath and secretary general Charanjit Singh Virk congratulated the boxers.
