The UT police have arrested four members of a gang, who used to steal BSNL cables laid underground.

The suspects have been identified as Vijay Kumar (28), Ashok Kumar (42), Sanjeev Kumar (28) and Ravinder, alias Ravi (42), all residents of a Jhujhar Nagar, Mohali.

The police said Ravinder was the kingpin of the gang and Ashok, a scrap dealer who used to purchase stolen goods. A total of five cases of cable thefts in the city have been worked out with their arrest. —
