Four inter-state weapons smugglers in Mohali police net

The police have arrested four arms smugglers and recovered five illegal weapons along with live cartridges, Rs 1.99 lakh in cash and two vehicles from them.
On October 24, a police party was present on the Kharar-Mullanpur airport road when a CIA staff team received information that Danveer and Bunty of Chhata village, Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh (UP), were supplying illegal arms in Punjab and other states. Officials got a tip-off that duo were going to supply illegal arms/ammunition to Krishna, alias Happy Gujjar, a resident of Nada village, and Sikander Sheikh, a native of Solapur, Maharashtra, currently residing as a tenant in Mullanpur Garib Dass, on the Kharar-Mullanpur airport road in a white car.
Based on the information, a case of the Arms Act was registered against the accused at the Kharar Sadar Police Station after arresting them. Danveer already had cases related to murder, robbery, the Arms Act and ATM breaking registered against him in Haryana, UP and Rajasthan. Sikander Sheikh, an international wrestler, was recruited in the Army on the sports quota, but later left the job. Krishan Kumar had case of fight registered against him at the Naya Gaon police station.
Mohali SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans said, “Accused Danveer is a member of Papla Gujjar gang. This gang is active in Haryana, UP and other states. Danveer used to bring arms from UP and MP and supply them in Punjab. On October 24, Danveer along with his accomplice Bunty had come to supply arms to Sikander Sheikh and Krishan Kumar in a vehicle. Both were arrested at Gopal Sweets near the airport chowk. Sikander Sheikh, who had come to buy arms, was also arrested on the spot and Rs 1.99 lakh recovered from him. Krishna Kumar was arrested on October 26. At present, the accused are under police remand. Raids are being conducted in UP and Haryana to nab their accomplices.”
