The police have arrested six members of a gang who were involved in several gunpoint robberies in Mohali and Chandigarh in the past one month.

Those arrested have been identified as Fatehgarh Sahib residents Jaspreet Singh (19), Pritpal Singh (25), Hasandeep Singh ( 22), Amrit Singh (25), Varinder Singh (25) and a juvenile. Sadar Kharar resident Gurkirat Singh is absconding.

The police have recovered two cars, two bikes, one countrymade pistol with two rounds, four stolen wheels and tyres, a music system and a chain snatched from one of the victims.

On March 18, the police registered a case at the Sadar Kharar station. Jaspreet Singh was the first one to be arrested near the Chappar Chiri Road on March 19. His interrogation led to the arrest of of Gurkirat Singh and other suspects.

CIA Staff in-charge Harminder Singh said the suspects used a car belonging to a juvenile. They stole the number plates of a car in TDI City on March 13. They also stole the wheels of another car on Airport Road.

The suspects took away a taxi of a Phase-2 tour and travels operator at gunpoint on March 13. On March 18, they stole a bike from Sector 117 at night. A day later, they stole two bikes from Sarang
