The police busted a gang of robbers with the arrest of five alleged members. The team also recovered weapons and impounded three bikes being used by the accused.

Superintendent of Police (SP, Investigation) Rakesh Yadav said the police had received a tip-off about presence of the gang members in the area, following which a team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP, D) Nikhil Garg and Inspector Amarbir Singh arrested them.

The accused have been identified as Baljinder Singh alias Balli, a resident of Ghunder in Patiala district; Abhishek Kumar and Simranjit Singh alias Kali, residents of Amloh; Ajay, a resident of Bhagwanpur; and Yadvinder Singh alias Yadi, a resident of Jassaran from the Grain Market in Sirhind.

The recovered weapons included a .32 bore pistol, iron rods and bamboo sticks. Three bikes being used by the gang members were also impounded with their arrest.

A case under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act has been registered at the Sirhind police station.

During the initial police interrogation, the accused have admitted to robbing pedestrians at gunpoint as well as stealing goods from factories.

Further investigation in the case is underway.
