Chandigarh: The UT Administration has assigned the charge of Director, AYUSH, UT, to SS Gill, Special Secretary, Health, in addition to his own duties till further orders, thereby relieving Dr G Dewan, Director, Health Services, UT, of the charge. Gill, a 2009-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre, had joined the Administration last month after his transfer from Delhi. He is also the nodal officer for Covid management. TNS

Man held for stealing cars

Chandigarh: The UT police have arrested a Zirakpur resident for vehicle thefts. The police had laid a naka near the GMCH, Sector 32, and apprehended the suspect, Saleem (38), while riding a stolen Honda City car. The police said a total of four Honda City cars had been recovered from him. Three cars were stolen from the Sector 34 police station area in July and August. TNS

Burail resident held for theft

Chandigarh: A Burail resident has been arrested for allegedly stealing 230 “namkeen” packets from a shop at Burail. On a complaint of Abhishek Parjapati, the police have registered a case at the Sector 34 police station. Later, the suspect, Sher Khan, alias Sheru, was arrested in the case. TNS
