Those arrested have been identified as Dharminder and Arshdeep — both natives of Barnala, who are currently residing in Zirakpur — and Pooja Taneja, a Karnal native.
Complainant Aditya Nandan stated that an unidentified female caller approached him on the pretext of friendship and came to meet him. After sometime, she called three youths to the room and started threatening him. The trio coerced him to withdraw Rs 7.66 lakh through his credit card and fled with his laptop, mobile phone and some valuables.
The suspects reportedly bought three iPhones using Aditya's credit card.
The police have arrested three persons, while one suspect is at large. “The phone and laptop of the victim has been recovered, along with three phones bought through the credit card,” the police said.
A case under Sections 308 (2), 127 (2), 351 (2) and 3(5) of the BNS has been registered at the Cyber Crime police station, Phase 7.
