Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 22, claimed the Khelo India U-17 Women’s Football League title. The championship was held at Sector 46 sports complex. In the last league match, the Sector 22 team recorded a 4-1 win over Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 21.

Striker Nandini remained the star for the team as she scored a brace in the team’s three-goal win. Sakshi opened the team’s account in the 6th minute to give the side an early lead. In the 22nd minute, the Sector 22 girls were again in thick of action as Sneha doubled the lead in the 22nd minute. Four minute into the two-goal lead, Nandini netted the third goal, followed by another in the 34th minute.

In control, the Sector 22 eves held majority of the ball possession and never let the opponents gain momentum. However in the 46th minute, the Sector 21 team managed to pull off a consoling goal for the side. Shilpa successfully converted the chance to reduce the lead to 1-4. Till the final whistle, the score remained unchanged and the Sector 22 team emerged as winners. They got a cheque of Rs 50,000 and the trophy. In another match, St Stephen’s School, Sector 45, recorded a 3-0 win over JSM Football Club. St Stephen’s claimed second spot to bag Rs 30,000 and runners-up trophy. KP Singh, president, Chandigarh Football Association, awarded the winners.
