Before fleeing, the assailants threw a paper slip demanding one “Khokha” from Harwinder Singh, the owner of Education Point Immigration Services and Consultants. The gunshots were aimed at the main gate of the firm and no one was injured in the incident.
Sources said the threat letter was delivered to the firm on the instructions of Manjit Singh, alias Gurri, of Khedi Gujranwala, currently lodged in Tihar Jail.
The police said apparently it looked like an extortion threat. The forensic team also reached the spot, which is situated around 100 metres from the Dera Bassi police station, to gather evidence in the case. SSP Deepak Pareek constituted teams to investigate the case.
The statement of the owner and the employees have been recorded. “No one has been injured in the incident,” he said. This is the second such incident in the past two months. On July 20, shots were fired at a diagnostic laboratory in the main market. Three bike-borne juveniles, students of a government school, claiming allegiance to the Kaushal Chaudhary gang, were arrested later. The trio had entered the Apollo Imaging and Path Lab and handed a threat letter to an employee. After handing the slip, one of them fired in the air before fleeing.
