Haryana Minister releases arrears worth Rs 9.2 cr for sanitation workers

Haryana’s Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goel released arrears worth Rs 9.23 crore from 2017 to 2023 for for sanitation workers. The announcement was made during the Safai Mitra Samman and Constitution Day celebrations.

Addressing sanitation workers, officials and dignitaries, Goel said, “The decision to clear long-pending arrears reflected Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s commitment to welfare and dignity of frontline cleaning staff.”

The MC released enhanced wage benefits worth Rs 7.87 crore to 840 sanitation workers, alongside nearly Rs 1 crore for families of deceased, retired and former workers. Scholarships were awarded to children of sanitation workers.

Administering the Constitution Day oath, the Minister reminded those present that the Constitution is India’s pride and that every citizen must uphold its values.

The event concluded with the felicitation of sanitation workers and scholarship recipients.
