Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta laid the foundation stone of a community centre to be constructed at a cost of Rs 57 lakh in Alipur village here today. He also laid the foundation stone of a community centre at Shyamtoo village, which would be built at a cost of Rs 47 lakh.

Gupta said villagers would be able to hold meetings, weddings and other programmes at the Alipur community centre, which would have a capacity to accommodate 300 persons. He said the MC would complete the construction within the next six months, adding that the government planned to construct community centres in all the villages of the state.

Gupta directed MC Commissioner Sachin Gupta to begin the construction of a crematorium at the earliest.
