Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta today participated in a rath yatra programme organised on the eve of consecration of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Thousands of people chanted “Jai Shri Ram” slogan, showered flowers and burst crackers during the event at Lord Valmiki Temple at Barwala.

Describing January 22 as a historic day, Gupta said after about 550 years, an idol of Lord Ram was going to be consecrated in Ayodhya, which was a matter of pride for all countrymen. He called upon the residents of Panchkula to celebrate the day as Diwali and light at least five lamps at their homes.
