Gangwa also revealed plans to establish a Road Safety Fund aimed at implementing additional measures to prevent accidents. The department is procuring modern equipment for quality checks to ensure the durability of roads during and after construction. “There will be no compromise on quality, and officials will be held accountable for any lapses,” he stated.

Workshops and training sessions are being organised during the Road Safety Week to address deficiencies and train PWD officers, employees, and contractors. The minister said camps and workshops would be conducted in schools and colleges near busy roads to educate students on road safety and traffic rules.

Senior officials, including Engineer-in-Chief Anil Dahiya and HSRDC Managing Director Virendra Malik, were present on the occasion. — TNS
