Health Dept urges Mohali district residents to create ABHA ID

The Health Department has urged district residents to create their ABHA ID (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) for availing better health care services at health facilities.

Civil Surgeon Dr Sangeeta Jain said, “An ABHA ID offers several benefits, including easy access to digital health records, secure data sharing. It also enables people to link to various healthcare benefits, and access AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) treatment facilities.”

Dr Jain said, “Another benefit is that a patient need not stand in queue at a government hospital for getting OPD slip as there is a separate counter for ABHA ID holders. Moreover, a patient need not carry their medical reports while consulting a doctor.”

Dr Jain said, “ABHA ID is as important as AADHAR card. The District Health Department is registering citizens for the health card. Any citizen can visit a nearest government health facility or contact health worker/ASHA worker for creation of the ID. Moreover, a citizen can create his/her ID on their own on the official website —www.abha.abdm.gov.in — without paying any fee as this is totally free service.”
