Heavy rain and strong winds hit Chandigarh early Thursday morning, but the weather cleared up by the time people woke up, and the sun came out. Chandigarh received 8.3 mm of rain.

Meanwhile, a sudden storm hit many parts of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday night, causing a lot of damage.

Power was cut in many areas, while trees fell and damaged vehicles.

Crops and fruits were badly affected, especially in upper Shimla. Apple and other fruit growers suffered major losses due to the strong winds.
