The police have arrested a history-sheeter, who is involved in two-wheeler thefts. The police also recovered two stolen bikes from his possession.

The accused has been identified as Gurinder Singh, alias Baba, a resident of Patiala. He was produced in a local court today, which sent him to five-day police remand.

According to the police, 23 criminal cases were registered against the accused at various police stations in Punjab and Haryana since 1991.

Inspector Manphul Singh, Station House Officer (SHO), Phase 1 police station, said, “We had received various complaints regarding theft against him in the recent past. Following a tip-off, we nabbed him from the Industrial Area, Phase 7, when he was about to sell stolen bikes.”

“The accused is a history-sheeter. He is involved in various thefts in the area. Further investigation is on so that we can arrest his accomplices too,” the SHO added.

A case has been registered against the accused under Section 379 of the IPC at the Phase 1 police station in this connection.
