A motorcyclist was killed while the pillion rider was injured after an auto hit the motorcycle in Sector 56.

According to the police, complainant Pritam, a resident of Sector 29, reported that he was riding the motorcycle as pillion, while his cousin Rakesh Kumar of Badheri village was riding it.

He said the auto, which was being driven by Naseem Ali, hit the motorcycle near a government school on March 27 following which he and his cousin were injured.

The duo was admitted to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, where Rakesh succumbed to the injuries. The police registered a case against the auto driver at the Sector 39 police station. The driver was arrested and later released on bail. — TNS

Policeman Hit by motorcycle, injured

ASI Ashok Kumar, posted at the Sector 61 police post, was injured after a motorcycle sped away after hitting him at Sector 52 on Holi. He was trying to stop the motorcyclist for a violation. The police said the 19-year-old suspect, Bobby, a resident of Sector 70, was later arrested. A case has been registered against him at Sector 36. He was released on bail.
