As cold wave conditions intensify, the UT Education Department has issued a circular asking government/ government- aided and private schools to conduct online classes for children below Class VIII and reschedule school hours for students of other Classes up to January 11.

“There will be no classes in physical mode for students up to Class VIII. However, schools may organise online classes for students from 9 am and regulate the timings from their staff accordingly,” reads the circular.

It further states, “For Class IX to XII, classes should commence not before 9:30 am and close no later than 3:30pm. To avoid disruption in pre-board exams (if any), these schools, if required, can open at 9 am and the timing for teachers may be regulated accordingly.”

The schools have been asked to follow the orders up to January 11.
