The issue of Zirakpur MC president's post is pending in the Punjab and Haryana High Court after MC president Udayvir Singh Dhillon received a resolution signed by 21 out of the 31 members of the MC House on June 28, 2024, for calling a meeting to pass a ‘no-confidence motion’ against him.

In his letter to the Deputy Commissioner, who is also the administrator to oversee the day-to-day operations, Sharma said that Municipal Act and government regulations were being flouted. No House meeting had taken place for the past eight months and no discussion regarding the 2025-2026 Budget had taken place with the elected representatives of the civic body, he said.

In another development, Aam Aadmi Party councillor from Ward No. 14 of the Zirakpur Municipal Council, Harjit Singh Minta, has been expelled with immediate effect for anti-party activities. In 2021, Minta was elected as Congress councillor from Ward No. 14 of Zirakpur MC after registering a massive win and was tipped to get a plum post which eluded him. Minta left the Congress to join AAP after 2022 elections.
