Chandigarh: On account of Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti, the UT Administration has announced a public holiday in all government offices, boards, corporations and institutions under it on October 3. TNS

Liquor shops shut today

Chandigarh: The city will observe a ‘dry day’ in the city on Gandhi Jayanti (October 2). As per directives, all liquor vends, bars, wholesale godowns and other excise establishments will remain closed from 12 midnight of October 1 to the entire day of October 2. TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
