Besides a house in Sector 37 where Mahajan lives, the other properties that have been identified so far include a hotel in Attawa, land in Kaimbwala and two flats, including one in Sector 38 (West).

The police said they had information about some other properties, including booths in the city, the ownership of which was being verified. Mahajan, as per records, had an annual package of around Rs7 lakh during the past few years. However, his financial transactions run into crores, said a police official.

The police claimed that Mahajan allegedly earned huge money by getting disputed properties sold. “He used to look for buyers and get his share after getting disputed properties sold,” said a police official.

Police investigations have revealed that a Ford Endeavour was purchased by Mahajan on loan. However, within a few months, he cleared the loan.
