HSBC Holdings has made history by appointing Pam Kaur as its first female Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective January 1, 2025. Kaur, a 60-year-old British Indian veteran in the financial sector, succeeds Georges Elhedery, who became CEO earlier this year.

This landmark appointment marks a significant milestone in HSBC’s 160-year history. Kaur brings extensive experience, having spent nearly 12 years at HSBC in senior roles, including Group Chief Risk and Compliance Officer.

A distinguished alumna of Panjab University, Kaur holds an MBA in Finance and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. Her expertise and leadership will shape HSBC’s financial strategy.

In addition to Kaur’s appointment, HSBC announced plans to streamline its operations into four business units, enhancing efficiency and agility.
