Hundreds of vehicles were stuck in a long traffic jam on the Chandigarh-Zirakpur stretch of the National Highway during the evening rush hour today. A truck got stuck in the middle of the road as it tried to jump over a divider near Hotel Ramada, leading to long queues of vehicles from Patiala Chowk till Tribune Chowk.
As the truck got stuck in the middle of the road, the movement of vehicles on the Chandigarh-Zirakpur side got affected. Within minutes, traffic on the other side was also affected.

Traffic police had a tough time to ensure the movement of vehicles till late evening.
The spot often witnesses accidents and long traffic jams as vehicles try to jump over to the other side by crossing the road divider. “The divider here is low and the absence of a railing makes it easier for offenders to indulge in such misadventures,” traffic police said.
