Panchkula, May 19

Around 12 contractual employees working as junior accountants in the accounts department of the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (HVPNL) have expressed resentment over the termination of their services without any notice.

Terminated contractual employees Rajnish, Gurpreet Saini and Balwinder Sharma said: “On one hand the state government has directed various government and private institutions not to dispense with the services of employees in view of the pandemic, while on the other the HVPNL has terminated our services with immediate effect.”

In the order issued on May 18, the HVPNL stated that contractual staff working on the post of junior accountant had become surplus… Accordingly, their services were dispensed with immediate effect.

Rajnish and Balwinder said: “Due to lockdown, private companies in northern India are closed and it is not possible to apply for a new job under prevailing circumstances.”

“The authorities should have kept in mind about the present pandemic situation before terminating our services,” they said.
