IAS probationers call on Governor

A group of IAS probationers from the 2024 batch, currently on a study tour of Chandigarh under the Bharat Darshan programme, called on Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria at Punjab Raj Bhavan today. During the interaction, the Governor welcomed the young officers and emphasised the critical role they play in the effective implementation of government schemes.

He urged them to ensure that the benefits of these schemes reach the real beneficiaries at the grassroots level. Kataria encouraged the probationers to work with dedication to bring about a positive transformation in the lives of the common people. He stressed the need for officers to adopt a proactive approach in strengthening democracy by motivating citizens to actively participate in the electoral process.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
