A team from the District Town Planning Department demolished illegal construction in the urban area of Panchkula today. The team removed around 18–20 dampproof courses (DPCs) in illegal colonies at Gorakhnath and Shahpur villages. The demolition was carried-out with heavy police cover.

Assistant City Planner Neha Yadav said the department had issued notices to the property owners. However, the illegal structures were not removed. Therefore, the department initiated this action. Yadav added that the department would initiate similar action against all illegal construction in the district.
