As part of the campaign launched against drug smugglers, the district police and civil administration today jointly demolished an illegal construction built by an alleged peddler at Kotla Fazal village in Bassi Pathana sub-division of the district.

Senior Superintendent of Police Shubham Agarwal said the police were committed to completely wipe out drug traffickers. “Smuggler Soam Nath, a resident of village Kotla Fazal is facing six cases under NDPS Act and he has been involved in the drugs business for a long time,” he said, adding that the action was taken with the cooperation of the Gram Panchayat.

“So far, 10 such illegal constructions have been demolished in the district built by drug traffickers using drug money,” he said, appealing to the people to give confidential information about drug traffickers to the police through Safe Punjab or helpline number 112.
