Two persons have been booked on Rs 10-crore extortion bid charge levelled by an immigration agent here.

Complainant Gurinder Singh, a Mohali-based immigration agent, stated that he had received repeated WhatsApp calls from foreign numbers. The callers identified themselves as Goldy Dhillon and Hari Boxer from Lawrence Bishnoi gang and threatened him with dire consequences if the money was not paid.

The complainant stated that when he ignored the calls, the suspects sent pictures of his home and vehicles to threaten him. They also called his mother to intimidate the family, he stated.

A case has been registered at the IT City police station.
