Mohali: The district witnessed the highest-ever single-day spike of 62 new Covid cases, taking the count to 1,051. Ten more patients have recovered from the disease and were discharged from the hospital.

The Civil Surgeon, Dr Manjit Singh, said all patients had been admitted to the Covid care centre at Gian Sagar Hospital in Banur. He said the patients were responding well to the treatment. Most of the cases had surfaced in Kharar, Dera Bassi, Zirakpur, Nayagaon and Mohali, he said. The district has so far witnessed 1,051 positive cases. There are now 445 active cases. Seventeen Covid deaths have been reported from the district. TNS
