Assets frozen in two drug cases

The police have frozen properties worth Rs 5.19 crore under the NDPS Act, 1985. Movable and immovable properties worth Rs 5.03 crore were frozen in a case registered against seven persons at the Sector 34 police station on July 28, 2023, after recovery of commercial quantity of amphetamine, 92-gm heroin and a pistol and ammunition. The police seized properties worth Rs 16.11 lakh in another case registered on March 14 this year against nine persons, including two women, after recovery of 312.41 gm of heroin.

Saplings planted at bird sanctuary

The Environment Society of India, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the UT Department of Environment, Forests and Wildlife, organised a plantation drive under the campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” and Van Mahotsav at the City Bird Sanctuary in Sector 21. Over 400 saplings of bird and butterfly-friendly species were planted by members of the society, local residents and forest officials.

Cleanliness drive at Sector 49 park

The MC, in collaboration with Onkar Charitable Foundation and Don Bosco Navjeevan Society, organised a cleanliness drive at the Valley of Animals, Sector 49, on Thursday. Around 100 children from the “Swachh Yuva Doot – A Brigade for Cleanliness” actively participated in the campaign by cleaning the park and collecting scattered waste, which was then transported in MC vehicles.
