For the second time in a row, not even a single bidder expressed interest in the allotment of the remaining nine liquor vends put up for the 11th round of auction by the UT Excise and Taxation Department here on Thursday. These vends were earlier put up for auction on June 2.

Snatchers in police net

The police arrested two Maujpur residents involved in theft and snatchings at knifepoint in the Mohali area. The suspects, identified as Parminder Singh and Harwinder Singh, had snatched Rs 80,000 from a local resident on May 20 night before fleeing on a bike. DSP City-2 Harsimran Singh Bal said the suspects was produced in court, which sent them to one-day police remand. The bike used in the crime had been recovered. In another case, the police apprehended a juvenile for snatching a mobile phone of Kumbhra resident Udaypal Singh near Sector 67 on June 4.
